The great Soviet-era writer Isaac Babel’s love, passion and conflicts are brought to the stage; a meditation on creativity and artistic responsibility in Stalin’s Russia. Isaac Babel And The Black Sea is an imaginative look at the life, the loves, and the mystery of the great Soviet-era writer Isaac Babel. Babel’s life spanned the birth of the Soviet Union through the Stalin era, and Timothy McNeil’s new play delves into the mystery of this remarkable writer, as he comes of age and attempts to survive in the Age of Stalin.
