Dear Stella Adler Academy and Theatre Family,
As you know by now, California Governor Newsom has issued a “stay at home” order “until further notice” for the entire state.
Obviously, we will not be able to reopen for classes until the order is rescinded.
Since we are looking at many weeks of closure, it will be impossible to make up for lost class time. I had originally hoped we might continue this semester, cancel the Spring Break, and make up for lost time, but that won’t be possible in light of the Governor’s order. We want to be in full compliance with the order. We have to take this virus seriously and respond with the health of our school community in mind.
So, the plan is to cancel the current term and start over next term. We were only two weeks into this term’s classes. We can repeat those exercises and continue forward from there. It never hurts to review, and after all, most classes were just getting rolling.
However, I want to be clear that we cannot say with absolute certainty that this is what will unfold. We are waiting for direction from the State of California Bureau that oversees our school, and the U.S. Government. I will let you know if anything changes because of their mandates. I ask everyone to be patient as we continue to make our way through this unprecedented historic event.
In the meantime, please continue to keep your eyes open for communications from us via email and Orbund. And please take care of yourself and others by staying home as much as possible and social distancing if you do venture outside. And let’s keep in touch!
Thank you all! I miss you all! But we’ll get back to it as soon as we can!
John Jack Rodgers
