Growth as an actor and growth as a person are the same.
Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre – Los Angeles is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to uplifting and enriching our collective humanity through the dramatic arts. Driven by the belief that the pursuit of craft and the pursuit of a meaningful life are inseparable, our Academy provides the tools, training, and discipline to nurture actors committed not only to their art, but to a life of social engagement.
Over the last 40 years, we have grown from a grassroots acting school into a world-renowned institution. We are a family of artists and a community of visionaries — proud to offer arts education and live performance to people of all ages, backgrounds, and means.
What We Stand For
Three Commitments. One Purpose.
🎭
World-Class Training
We provide the tools, technique, and discipline to develop serious actors — not just performers. Rooted in the Stella Adler Tequnique, our curriculum nurtures imagination, builds craft, and prepares students for the realities of professional screen and stage work.
🌍
Community & Outreach
We believe the arts belong to everyone. Through our Outreach Program, we bring free theatrical performances and artist scholarships to low-income students across Los Angeles County — with special priority given to area grade schools, high schools and after-school programs.

A Living Legacy
Stella said, “Actors, writers and directors can change the world, but they need a place to gather, share ideas and work.” For over 40 years, we have been that gathering place — a home for visionaries committed to ensuring that the transformative power of the creative community endures for generations to come.
Community Impact
The Arts Are for Everyone.
Located on Hollywood Blvd. at Highland — in the heart of Hollywood — we take our responsibility to the surrounding community seriously. Our outreach programs reach hundreds of students, families, and seniors across Los Angeles County each year.
We believe that access to the arts is not a luxury. It is a fundamental human right.
All Access / Pay-What-You-Can Nights
Live performances open to everyone, regardless of financial means.
Student & Senior Discounts
Reduced pricing for students and senior citizens on all public programming.
Social ACTivism Work Study
Outstanding students earn their place in our Academy by giving back — serving the community as their tuition.
Children's Program
Free school-day performances and artist residencies for under-served youth in Hollywood and surrounding neighborhoods.
Founder & Master Teacher
Stella Adler
"The word 'talent' is overrated. What matters
is the work — the daily, disciplined, joyful work
of becoming."
— Stella Adler
Stella Adler's vision was never simply to produce skilled performers. She believed that the act of training an actor was, at its core, the act of developing a more fully realized human being — one capable of empathy, imagination, and genuine connection with the world around them. That belief is the foundation of everything we do.
