FAQ

Common Questions.

Do I need prior experience to apply?

No. Many of our students come in with zero formal training. The Adler Technique is built from the ground up — we teach you how to act, not how to perform what you already know. We do offer a tour of the facility and a chance to audit a class for all applicants.

What is the Adler Technique?

The Adler Technique is a method of acting developed by Stella Adler, rooted in Stanislavski's system. Unlike methods that rely on emotional recall, Adler's approach uses imagination and given circumstances to create truthful, repeatable performances. It's the technique behind some of the most iconic film performances in history.

Can I switch between full-time and part-time?

Yes — you can move between full-time and part-time at any time. Every class you take counts toward graduation regardless of your pace. Students must follow the curriculum sequence and cannot take classes with prerequisites before fulfilling the requirements.

When can I start?

Students may begin at the start of any term. We have 6 terms per year: Winter, Spring, Late Spring, Summer, Late Summer, and Fall. Each term is approximately 8 weeks. See our Current Schedule page for upcoming start dates.

What financial aid is available?

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we offer need-based scholarships and payment plans. Tuition may be paid term by term. Contact our admissions team to discuss your specific situation.

What are the graduation requirements?

Students must complete all of the classes set out in the two year program to be eligible for graduation. To advance to Year 2, students must pass a monologue review with faculty at the end of Year 1.

Can international students apply?

Yes. We welcome international students and can provide documentation for student visa purposes. Please contact admissions for specifics on enrollment requirements for international applicants.
