The Fine Print
Applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalency and be at least 18 years of age. Students must provide diploma or proof equivalent upon application. You are required to supply a copy of your diploma upon registration.
Proficiency in English is required. Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre – Los Angeles does not provide English Language services.
Late Fee: Payments are due by Friday of the first week of school. After that, the student will automatically be charged the $45 split fee and may split their payments up throughout the term. If a student
is not fully paid by the end of term they may not enroll in future classes until the balance is paid.
Late Policy: Teachers will give a 5 minute window from the start of class for students to arrive and be marked as Tardy. After the 5 minute window student will be allowed to enter class but will be marked as absent.
Attendance Policy: Students are allowed 2 absences per class, per term (one absence if class meets once per week).
If students drops after 60% of the term they will automatically Fail the class. If students fail to complete the final assignments or performances in classes they will receive an Incomplete grade and will
need to repeat the course or make-up the assignment (depending on the class).
Probation and dismissal: For 3 or more missed classes you will be put on probation for the next term of study. Excessive absences, tardiness, drug or alcohol abuse or sexual harassment is grounds for immediate dismissal. Class cuts are not allowed.
American full time students may take a leave of absence, they must inform the office both before they leave and when they wish to return.
Students are evaluated at the end of every term by the faculty, pending evaluation, student may move up-ward in the program.
Re-application procedures: Any student who previously applied and elected not to register or was denied admission, and/or any student who withdrew or was dismissed must re-apply as per normal admission requirements.
Any complaint or issue a student has may be submitted in writing or the student may arrange a meeting with the office or executive director.
Because casting is such a subjective process it is impossible for us to guarantee employment. However, Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre – Los Angeles does offer services to help students cope with the industry. These include: knowledgeable staff and faculty who provide info about managers/agents/auditions, audition notices, manager/agent workshops, and free info sessions.
If a student obtains a loan to pay for an educational program, the student will have the responsibility to repay the full amount of the loan plus interest, less the amount of any refund and that, if the student has received federal student financial aid funds, the student is entitled to a refund of the moneys not paid from federal student financial aid program funds.
BUYER’S RIGHT TO CANCEL (US Students Only): Students have the right to cancel this agreement prior to or on the first day of instruction and obtain a refund less the $60 per class deposit, by submitting a written notice no later than the first day of instruction to Wendy Overend, Administrator, Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre – Los Angeles, 6773 Hollywood Blvd., 2nd Floor, Hollywood, CA 90028, or by hand delivery. All refunds will be paid within 30 days after notice of cancellation has been received. Please note: The application fee is non-refundable.
WITHDRAWAL (US Students Only): Once classes have begun, students have the right to withdraw from a course or program. A student will receive a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of the tuition less the $25 per class drop fee if the student has completed 60% or less of instruction. If the school cancels or discontinues a course or educational program, the school will issue a full refund. All refunds will be paid within 30 days after notice of cancellation has been received.
STUDENT CONDUCT: At the discretion of the Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre – Los Angeles Administrative Affairs, students may be dismissed from the Academy for behavior disruptive to the mission of the school. The following is a listing of such, but not limited to those stated below:
- Excessive unexcused absences or tardiness
- Unauthorized possession, use or consumption of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs while on the premises
- Intoxication, dishonesty, altercation, stealing
- Possession, use or abuse of a weapon, dangerous material, or unlawful substance
- Disruptive behavior in class
- Intent to undermine the goals of the institution
- Grave personal misconduct
- Misuse, unauthorized use of, or damage to Stella Adler Academy property
- Sexual or physical assault on-campus
- Unlawful harassment of an employee, student or other person
- Failure to meet financial obligations or commitments
- Unauthorized release of confidential information about Stella Adler Academy employees, faculty, alumni and students
- Violation of general rules and regulations
The administration may place on probation, suspend or expel students for one or more of the causes enumerated above. No fees or tuition paid by or for such students for the term in which they are suspended or expelled shall be refunded.

These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, acceptance of students, casting, and provision of services.
